An Outwelling of Charity

I'm very surprised that Megan hasn't been screaming her head off about the beauty of BP's selfless decision to give millions of impoverished shore birds direct delivery of free crude oil. You'd think she'd be all over that sheening example of corporate benevolence and the utter uselessness of government efforts to solve our problems.

Let me guess--regulation is good, but not necessary unless it is, although it shouldn't be required, except when it is.

Megan's hoping for a lifetime supply of free lube herself. So would all of you if you were hooking on to some bloodless GOP hack.

The thing is, a real freemarketeer would tell you this is how things are supposed to work. There is no need for regulation. If the customers really didn't want the entire Gulf polluted, they would just stop buying BP and BP would go out of business, smitten by the Great God Market, blessed be His Invisible Hand.

Strangely, none of them seem to have the guts to stand up and say this, probably because they know how insane it would sound.

How has no one pointed out what an idiot I am for saying "outwelling" when I clearly meant "upwelling" or something else that is actually a word...
