Megan has a post up about the Senate passing the health care bill. Let's see how far I can read before she says something stupid or evil enough for me to throw up my hands in exasperation and give up. Ready, set, go:
Senate Passes Health Care Bill:
Alea iacta est. I think it very unlikely that the Democrats will be able to retreat from this now--has any major bill ever simply failed in conference?
The good is that some people who cannot now acquire insurance will get it; even if this does not make them noticeably healthier,
A NEW RECORD!
Merry Xmas, you goyische bastards.

I don't know. Maybe she should ask someone who's paid to find these things out and report them, like a journalist.
Merry FUCKING CHRISTMAS, FMM!22!
~
Merry Christmas, bitchezzzz!
Also, alea iacta est? WTF? Does she even know what this means and in what context it was/should be used?
bulbul,
No. I don't think the point of no return has been reached yet on the matter of health care. But at least she gets to appear smart to people who don't know what alea iacta est means.
And Merry Christmas, assholes. I luvs ya.
um, it won't make anyone healthier, particularly since the implications of the bill are such that at best the current health maintenance of one group is being traded for potential health maintenance of another group. but health insurance does not confer health, nor does health care.
that was the least silly bit of that particular post.
Bold move, doc, actually defending the claim that access to doctors doesn't increase health.
I wonder if Anon's noticed that this is a health care reform.
Alsoalso... Ah fuck it, he's an asshole.
shrug, it's a health insurance reform. and health insurance isn't health care.
visiting a doctor/hospital doesn't make one healthier, it merely offers an opportunity to restore a prior level of health or maintain an existing level of health. but doctors/hospitals are not magical, they don't confer bonus health points.
but the recent bill is not going to expand health insurance availability either with its arrays of negative incentives, so all those mythical people dying daily will continue to do so and there will just be a higher tax burden.
it merely offers an opportunity to restore a prior level of health
So essentially
sick --> prior level of health.
Is that "making healthier"? I really don't know, but then again, I do not write for The Atlantic.
Also, my anonymous friend, visiting a doctor/hospital also offers an opportunity to treat a congenital condition/disorder and maybe even heal it. Would that qualify as "making the person in question noticeably healthier?"
but doctors/hospitals are not magical, they don't confer bonus health points.
Optional retort 1: Well, duh.
Optional retort 2: Of course they're not and they don't. That's what insurance companies and big pharma is for.
Take your pick.
the recent bill is not going to expand health insurance availability
Evidence, please.
so all those mythical people dying daily will continue to do so
Shame that "Instant Immortality" ammendment did not pass, ain't it?
Also, go mythically fuck yourself.
I guess someone didn't read about that girl who died of the flu or something like that recently. She was mythical!
