It occurred to me this morning that the war on Southwest Islamistan has proven nicely that even the hippies were only acting in their own self interest.
But it's ok. Activism is still going strong. The UC students walked out this week over the tragic loss of the rugby team. They reported that they liked it outside on a nice day without class.

This is almost entirely indistinguishable from something Megan might write.
So how high were you when you wrote this?
Hmm, yeah, it's prolly just a coincidence the whole draft thing...
Why would anyone actually go out and protest anything, when they can join a Facebook group complaining about it instead? That leaves way more time for Farmville!
The students selfless pulled fire alarms and skipped class. It was amazing to behold the sacrifice of so many for the sake of so few sports teams.
Are you talking about the Berkeley budget cut protests? It's more about the student fee hikes, layoffs and class cancellations. Call me humorless, but pretending it's about cuts to the sports department is just dishonest.
I'm talking about the more recent ones.
See, I actually live in Berkeley. I went there formally until very recently and still spend part of more than half my days on campus. I read the Facebook updates.
I know what is what.
And what is what is that the fucking Rugby team was mentioned more often than anything else this past week.
Facebook does not lie.
Well, I guess that's an important point that they left out of The Social Nework: Everyone on Facebook is either a farmer or a rugby player. Kinda skews things a bit. That'll probably be on the dvd extras.
Oh, atat, i'm so glad you know what you're talking about. I was just going to...
oh shit.. someone just pulled the fire alarm. Gotta go. Phew. Saved by the bell.
Oh, good, they're slacklining at the campanille again.
Sure you can burn down McDonalds, but you cant hurt the burgers -
