Apologies for the Light Posting
the annual gift guide will be up this weekend,So I was all like "goy present bringer, I know I'm a jew and all, but can you make Megan do more ridiculously stupid posts that don't also enrage me to murderous impulses?" Goy present bringer is awesome.

Megan should apologize to her readers for frequent posting, not for light posting.
Love the "fuck you Megan" tag.
Who in the hell would look to Megan McArdle for guidance on what kind of gifts to give people she doesn't even know? Ahhh, had no idea what to give me dear da until Megan wrote about the laser pencil sharpener-slash-belt buckle polisher she bought last week at the Sharper Image. A post which was immediately followed by an admonishing of consumerist culture and American addiction to buying things we don't need.
God, she's a twat.
The ugly genius in Megan's buying guide posts is in the bragging she does as she describe the gift. "My friends and family often tell me I make the best waffles on the planet, and the secret to doing this is measuring carefully and using the Westinghouse Waffle Master..."
Didn't she just basically itemize all the expensive gadgets and useless shit she has in her house last year? I vaguely recall her recommending a big screen TV or something inappropriately expensive that nobody would ever buy as a gift. But I hope she has some kitchen stuff on this year's list. It amuses me when she writes about these things as if she's the first person who ever owned them.
And you can be sure she'll link to all of it through her Amazon site without telling everyone she stands to make money off the purchase after positively endorsing something, believing the one time she mentioned it in passing two years ago was enough of a disclosure.
Her electronics guide was filled with things that are inappropriate as gifts--too expensive, as CP says, or they come with a contract and credit check and payments, or they're the sort of buying decision you don't make for other people. It was a list of things she bought and liked.
A list of things that Megan has bought and liked is a list of things that all of us have bought and liked.
And it's now 4 PM DC time and the gift guide she promised to put up on the weekend has still not reared its head. Don't let this be like the Black Friday post offfered but not delivered! How will I do my Christmas shopping if I don't know what Megan thinks I should buy my loved ones?
How about buying them a liver? Megan would approve of that.
She made it (Technically, the "Kitchen Edition;" more to come?) w/ over three hrs. to spare. Way to go!
