Ahhhhhh

I'm watching Fox News. The lies, they are like sweet, sweet candy today. Nutella is, of course, absolutely right in that this victory has absolutely nothing to do with Megan, it's about people, and, at heart, acknowledging and valuing our shared humanity.
But fuck if the right's reaction isn't making me feel like I'm eating dessert first.
And frankly, I almost don't blame Megan for feeling like this is all about her. She dug a big ole hole for herself, and now we get to bury her in it.
Her whiny, irrational, sore loser posts have already been taken apart far and wide, so I'd just like to highlight a passage from one that might get overlooked;

What I hope is that the Democrats take a beating at the ballot boxand [sic] rethink their contempt for those mouth-breathing illiterates in the electorate. I hope Obama gets his wish to be a one-term president who passed health care. Not because I think I will like his opponent--I very much doubt that I will support much of anything Obama's opponent says. But because politicians shouldn't feel that the best route to electoral success is to lie to the voters, and then ignore them.
That closing line is such a thing of beauty. How dare Obama enact one of the central planks of his campaign platform? What kind of liar tells you what he's going to do before you even give him the chance to do it, then actually goes out and does it?
At least he'll pay for it in 2012, when Palin in no way, shape, or form turns herself into the conservative Mondale. That bastard Obama lived up to a campaign promise and accomplished something every President since Truman has failed to do, he's toast.

Holy living shit, I DID overlook that one. But hey, that post was overflowing with teh stupid and teh incoherent. I turned off CSPAN just before going to sleep at 2AM, so I really don't know what happened after that. But I'm pretty sure that had Reid and Pelosi buttfucked every Republican into voting Aye - which is what happened, judging by Megan's description - I would have heard about it.

I'm I allowed to say "McTardle" if I assure everyone it's merely satire?

**But because politicians shouldn't feel that the best route to electoral success is to lie to the voters, and then ignore them.**

The cognitive dissonance, it burns. Because that sentence really sums up the W. presidency.

Oh c',mon, jp, she only voted for him twice. That's a mere two more times than you or I did.

I take it that by "lie to the public" she didn't mean "lie that he was going to pass the healthcare bill" but rather "lie about the reasons for which we must pass it."

To figure out what Megan meant, you need to go to the source:

http://www.sabian.org/Alice/lgchap06.htm

`I don't know what you mean by "glory",' Alice said.

Megan smiled contemptuously. `Of course you don't -- till I tell you. I meant "there's a nice knock-down argument for you!"'

`But "glory" doesn't mean "a nice knock-down argument",' Alice objected.

`When I use a word,' Megan said, in rather a scornful tone, `it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.'

Obama has had remarkable good fortune in his electoral opponents so far.
Look back on the path that led him from the State House to the Senate; it reminded me of the Roadrunner facing a succession of Coyotes. Even McCain had a ghost of a chance until he was persuaded to ditch Lieberman for the Polar Pageant Princess.

So, I suspect that whoever the RNC drags kicking and screaming to the starting line may be working under a disadvantage.

Palin/Keyes 2012, anyone?
