Taking Bets

Update: Yosemite was fun, but I regret to find that no one has won our really smart bear. This sucks because now I don't know what to do with him. Uh, anyone want a free bear?

As of 10am Western time, Megan McArdle has not opined on Obama's Nobel Prize. We can be assured that, maybe in three or four days, she'll get around to coughing up some dense, wet, and hairy matter she will call a "thought" and any common house-cat will call a "hairball."

I have to get ready for a trip to Yosemite, but I'd like to leave it to you folks to guess how she will respond. My guess is that she'll be moderate (of course) and say that it's a good thing with the caveat that this reinforces the idea that Obama is a lisping light-footed fairy and hurt his defense (she'll say defence) credentials.

The winner will be judged when I get back and whoever is closest wins a bear of above average intelligence.

She'll note that Yasser Arafat has also been awarded one, and claim this puts Obama in the company of Muslim terrorists.

I think she'll go with "Al Gore got one, so it doesn't mean anything".

I think she'll quote someone else's condemnation while repeatedly saying she has no opinion either way.

My money's on "conflicted" and/or "of two minds about this."

She'll continue her bid to earn the coveted Concern Troll of the Year award, and express her deep, uh, concern that this only will only validate his critics' charges that he is just an empty suit teleprompter-dependent golden-tongued speechifying uppity ni... er, narcissist.

What Susan said.

If someone questions her claim that she has no opinion either way, Megan will remind her readers yet again that she 'supported' Obama.

The verdict is in.
Surprisingly, she didn't quote anyone (sorry Susan), nor is she two minds about this (sorry Anon). But she didn't say anything about Gore of Arafat, either, she didn't call Obama uppity and she didn't question the legitimacy of the award itself.
Basically shorter Megan: "He did nothing to deserve this. Oh and I'm a wingnut, too."

It seems McMegan couldn't resist opining on the Nobel yet again. Of course this time she cannot resist coughing up the wingnut Obama ain't done nothin' but chair meetings and say nice words bit. At least she had the sense to set Mark Kleiman straight. She is not "normally intelligent" and he should know better. Shame on him for ever standing up for her.

Now can I get that really smart bear?

It was an honor just to have participated.
