Amy Alkon continues to produce sheer comic genius.
I know my linking to her blog in non-complimentary terms is an act of fascism, but I just can't help it.
Is she the most insecure person in the world?

If I haven't dated her, then no, she isn't.

Yes, the Founding Fathers fought for free speech rights so that Amy Alkon wouldn't have to deal with meanies over the internet. I think that kind of spamming stuff is childish and counter-productive, but come on. It's not like she's had a wing named after her in the gulag where liberals throw rightwing bloggers for daring to speak their minds. Being criticized is not an attack on your free speech.

Shorter every wingnut faced with determined opposition: Help, help, I'm being oppressed!

Just come down to NYC, Clem. No one ever feels insecure, they do way too much coke for that to happen.
We need a crime wave.

God, she can't let go of putting "s around progressive, can she?

(Sorry, posted my comment before it finished).

I fully expect her to pull a Homer Simpson and write, "In case you couldn't tell, I was being sarcastic!"

Um, Chad, we don't call that a Homer Simpson anymore.

Granted, things like the comment spam and Wikipedia vandalism is kind of silly and annoying, but I just can't bring myself to feel even a twinge of pity for her because its mostly been the byproduct of her own childish overreacting and purposeful antagonism. If she had reacted to the original incidents that sparked the whole mess as a rational mature adult, things would have never came to this. She could have undid the vandalism and dealt with the few comments that appeared on her site in a quiet reasoned manner and things would have blown over pretty quickly. Instead, she immediately became childish, petty, antagonistic, and completely irrational. That she either doesn't realize, or doesn't care, how her own behavior has done nothing but keep ratcheting up the situation leads me to conclude with a great deal of certainty that she is either painfully, and pathetically, immature, or she is purposefully trying to fan the flames as much as possible. I don't know why she would do so. Perhaps she likes the exposure such a prolonged confrontation, and self-proclaimed victimhood might bring. Maybe she's just a really petty and vindictive person. Regardless, her bizarrely inappropriate behavior melts away whatever small bits of vague sympathy I might have had for her if she had been more reasonable. As it stands now, if this whole sad affair in any way affects her professional life and credibility, she fully deserves it. No one this immature and irrational has any business giving advice to anyone.
