Your surprising news of the day

Sit down. You might want to have a tranquilizer handy. And a phone, to call a doctor. Remember, it generally starts with a numbness on the left arm . . .
Now that you are braced for the shock, here it is: comprehensive health care program costs much, much more than the government anticipated.
Not shocked? You must be one of the rare few who knows that government health care plans tend to double their costs in short order, and then keep going.
Whereas w/ private plans, costs go down & coverage goes up. Soon, they'll be paying you for the privilege of removing yr. gall bladder.

And perhaps Ms. McM. should have said organ removed, she seems to have an excess of its main product.

This reminds of an essay I read by some Libertarian-type (can't remember who now) from the early 1990s, making dire predictions of what would happen if we adopted single-payer health care. Hilariously enough most of the main predictions - people not being able to choose their own doctors, lengthy waiting periods for an appointment, overwhelming paperwork, and complicated medical plans - have all come true.

The total cost overrun is going to be $400 million dollars! OMGZORS! Where will the 6.5 million citizens of Massachusetts find the less than 100 dollars, on average, to cover that? And let me ask you, are you willing o pay a few hours worth of work just so EVERY SINGLE PERSON IN THE STATE CAN HAVE MEDIAL COVERAGE??!?!?!?!!?!?

I thought not.

Oh yes I did, & it just came out, gall bladder being a "funny" internal organ, along w/ the spleen. Then I realized it could apply to our muse, and I did do it!!
