*sigh*

Just the news, folks:

The New York Times headlined its big web piece: "McCain Gains Early Edge in G.O.P. Race; Clinton Takes 2 Big Northeastern states."

This is a great headline for two reasons:

1) The story does not mention Hillary Clinton

2) One of the "big Northeastern states" she has picked up is New York, which was widely expected to go big for its senator.
I guess Megan hasn't followed an election online in her lifetime before tonight?
The headlines are rewritten constantly, but they link to pre-written pieces that feature the most recent developments at the end. That's pretty much how it has always worked, to my recollection. People aren't looking for polished reporting on breaking news, they're after the raw numbers on the front page.
Megan's second point is equally vapid. Is New York now not a large state in the northeast? Was she really an English major?
