Pointlessness

What is the point of this item:

"...oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam, and doxylamine." That's a pretty impressive list for a 28-year-old with a successful career in a demanding job.
about the death of Heath Ledger?

A) Who gives a fuck?
B) What business is it of ours?
C) No one would care if it hadn't been a "celebrity."
D) Had it been, say, Paris Hilton, rather than a "serious actor celebrity," would we have gotten the same McCoverage?

What does "pretty impressive list for a 28-year-old with a successful career in a demanding job" mean, exactly? Is Megan jealous of his success/pile of drugs? The whole point of her title* is that the rich can obtain better stuff than the non-rich can.

I'm just especially confused by this one. Most of the time our muse is quite transparent, but this is beyond pointless, & not even snide or, well, anything.

*And in the spirit of not quoting Monty Python again, Ms. McArdle, please leave F. Scott Fitzgerald in peace as well.

not to mention her "witty" point was wrong. who doesn't know what hydrocodone or oxycodone is? and that those drugs aren't exactly uncommon?

I was just going to say something along those lines, aarons. I've been given a prescription for hydrocodone for a bad sunburn, for goodness' sake. I've pretty much had all of those drugs prescribed at one time or another, and I'm not exactly "rich."

But keep making jokes about tragedy, Megan. It's so funny!

I especially like the jerk off who showed up defending her right to be "dispassionate" about a person she's never met. Thing is, her site isn't just some random blogging nerd's homepage. It is a blog attached to a professional magazine, where people are apt to expect exceptions to such vulgar dismissals of a lost human life.
