She does have a heart

You know, this is why insulting people over the internet is kind of, well, shitty,

I emailed Megan about the below fiasco, she replied almost immediately and was very nice. She seemed genuinely concerned. Of course, I'm about .0001% concerned that mousie is actually coming after me, but it's nice to know that if she does, Megan will cooperate with the authorities once they find my bloated, cheese stuffed body.

She gets a bye for the day!

Thanks, Megan!

Oh, and apparently, Mousie is a she

Good for her.

Yeah, credit where credit is due. Megan did the right thing here.

I still hate her politics, though. And her writing.

Don't go soft now!

Castigate and excoriate Megan McArdle.

Fire Megan McArdle but give her a fair severance package including continuation of health coverage. (That last bit just to irk her.)

Mousy is a she?
..... is she cute?

NutellaonToast said...

I don't know. I sent her a message on the dating site, but she hasn't replied. I asked her to send pics though, so we could "get to know each other"

Well, let us know. If she's cute she might have a point in criticizing us. Part of being an open misogynist is admitting a woman is only as right as she is hot. If Megan were more attractive her work would be much more accurate.

Of course Mousy's a she--she's Megan's sock puppet. I always suspected this, but couldn't be sure. Anonymouse only posts to denigrate Megan's detractors and tell everyone how Megan was right all along. I thought that was odd. As I read more I found that anonymouse never disagrees with anything Megan says. Sometimes, even, anonymouse explains what Megan really meant in her post, but how all of Megan's critics are to stupid to understand Megan's bloated prose. What other popular blogger does that?

I don't care what Megan emailed you--maybe she was nice, but big fucking deal. If I were her, and one of my fiercest critics emailed me complaining of threats, I'd email back that I'm concerned and would cooperate if it escalates. Why not? What's there to lose? After all she does work for the Atlantic.

But I read her post in the comments responding to your--understandable--concerns, and what does she say? Instead of apologizing or castigating anonymouse for making threats to Megan's readers--which is what a normal person would do--Megan accuses both sides of being wrong, and that everyone should from now on be nice to each other. She doesn't even pull the threatening post down, bitch. She simply tells her supporters to be "nice" and not threaten the "trolls." Fuck her.

I think Megan knows how to work computers and if as I suspect Megan and anonymouse are one in the same, she may very well know lots of information about you and me.

But to this, I say, Fuck her. If anonymouse or anyone else wants to fight and try ruining careers or fucking around with computers, or anything else--Bring it on. In that case anonymouse or any one else may some day have to regret awakening a sleeping giant.

Sorry, shoud be "Blake said..." just so anonymouse knows who posted it and who's career to ruin.

brad said...

Ehh, I dunno blake. anonymouse "sounds" different from Megan. I hesitate to say it, but anony's language is.... crisper. I don't think Megan is a gifted enough writer to assume a different voice. She'd be writing fiction if she could.

Anonymous said...

Brad, you're probably right. anonymouse is just some frustrated nutcase, not Megan's MO.

But credit where credit is due, Megan had some good ideas about Iraqi war refuges being denied amnesty into the USA. I give her credit there for finally showing a soul.

If you don't hear from me next week that's becasue anonymouse got me.

gonna hafta go ahead and disagree with ya there bob. Think you're demonizing your opponent a bit much

whoops, missed the last two comments, that was about the soick puppet thing. i agree with brad

Good for Megan, indeed. But as far as the being mean bit goes - and without demonzing Megan too much - here's the thing. She's never too hesitant to remind us all of her varying talents, intelligence, wit and sophistication. She mentions her MBA and cosmopolitan education as often as she can. And as she's recently also informed us, she could be making gobs of money doing something else besides writing. I don't want Megan to wind up homeless and poor. I don't want her to be unhappy or unemployed or any other "un" you can think of. I just don't think she's good enough for the pages of the Atlantic. Or at least what the Atlantic used to be.

Good tidings, Megan. Just find them elsewhere. I'm sure you have talents. Writing just ain't one of them.

Megan could be the nicest person in the world. That doesn't mean she isn't dangerous.

I knew Donald Rumsfeld professionally prior to and after his appointment as Secretary of Defense. Donald Rumsfeld, as it happens, is a man of enormous personal integrity and one of the most original, brilliant men I have ever met. This does not change the fact that while Secretary of Defense he enabled the worst impulses of Bush and Cheney nor that he is a war criminal.

I enjoy the snarky, often over-the-top critique of Megan found here. But the slapstick attacks have a way of defining her deviancy down leading to a situation where the slightest evidence of humanity legitimizes her behavior. The original accusation against Megan was that her appointment to the Atlantic was an affront to the storied tradition of liberal advocacy of the magazine. That accusation has been validated with every post she has made. Moreover, as Glenn Greenwald has pointed out, her glib acceptance of torture is emblematic of the moral corruption of our chattering class.

This blog serves a useful purpose in cataloging the myriad ways Megan fails as a journalist and intellectual. It is only by holding the media institutions accountable for their actions that we can hope to avoid repeating the mistakes of the last eight years. Don't give up the fight.

FIRE MEGAN MCARDLE!

spencer said...

I changed my mind. Fire Megan. But feign regret when you do it.

brad said...

No fears, anon.
If anything, moments like this serve as a useful counterbalance.
Unlike Megan, we can behave differently, and meet higher standards.
We just choose not to.

NutellaonToast said...

Well, apparently she can do.
